The talks by Yamanaka, Brauneck, Palis and Ginzburg were each followed by comments and questions by Academicians of the Lincei: Mario Stefanini, Luigi Petrobelli, Carlo Sbordone ed Enrico Castelnuovo.
To conclude, Alberto Quadrio Curzio and Paolo Matthiae, as Acedemicians of the Lincei and members of the Balzan Foundation "Prize" Board, invited members of the audience to ask the prizewinners questions on the basic themes of their research.
The Forum and the proceedings are a result of the Agreements of collaboration signed by the International Balzan Foundation “Prize”  with  the Swiss Academies of  Arts and Sciences and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei to spread knowledge of studies of international breadth in the sciences and the humanities.
