The second Palis-Balzan International Symposium on Dynamical Systems was held from 10 to 14 June, 2013 in France, at the Institut Henri Poincaré in Paris.

This was the second in a series of three Balzan-Palis Symposia, two at IMPA (Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada) in Rio De Janeiro and one at the Institut Henri Poincaré, before the end of 2015, aimed at demonstrating the progress being made by young researches in their work on Dynamical Systems, and to stimulate further research, in the context of Professor Palis’ Balzan Research Project.

This initiative, under the supervision of Jacob Palis himself and Jean Christophe Yoccoz (Collège de France), with Sylvain Crovisier and Carlos Matheus Santos of CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique) was supported by the second half of Jacob Palis' 2010 Balzan Prize for Mathematics (pure and applied), specifically set aside to support the work of young researchers.
