The International Balzan Prize Foundation promotes the Prize through forums, lectures, seminars and publications.

In conjunction with the Awards Ceremony, held on alternate years in Rome and Berne, an Interdisciplinary Forum is held. It is open to the public, and the current year’s Prizewinners, members of the General Prize Committee and Italian and members of the Swiss and Italian Academies take part.

An Annual Balzan Lecture by a Balzan Prizewinner is held in Switzerland when the Awards Ceremony is held in Italy, and vice versa.
Not only does the location of the Annual Lecture alternate from year to year; so do the subjects, as topics in the sciences alternate with those in the humanities.
Both of these yearly events are the fruit of collaboration between the Balzan Foundation, the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, and the proceedings are published during the year following the events. The Annual Balzan Lectures are published in a series by Leo S. Olschki in Florence.

Conferences and lectures by Balzan Prizewinners are also frequently organized in Italy and Switzerland, as well as in Europe and the United States in collaboration with universities, academies and cultural and diplomatic institutions on themes relevant to cultural and scientific debate.
International Balzan symposia on topics of great interest have been organized in Venice (1988), London (2002) and Lugano (2008).
