Balzan-Skinner Lecture and Colloquium in Cambridge on 5 May (anglais)

The second Balzan-Skinner Lecture and Colloquium will be held on 5-6 May 2011 at the University of Cambridge, entitled Radical Translation: Analytic Philosophy in America.
On Thursday 5 May  the lecturer, Joel Isaac (Queen Mary, University of London) will focus on the reception of the analytic tradition of philosophy in the United States: he will aim to lay down a framework for an intellectual history of the analytic turn in American philosophy and social thought.
The colloquium, on Friday 6 May, will investigate these issues within a transatlantic framework.  It will examine the work and the influence of some key analytic thinkers.
This is the second in a series of Balzan-Skinner Lectures and Colloquia in modern intellectual history, to be held under the joint auspices of the Faculty of History and CRASSH of the University of Cambridge. This initiative derives from the resources of Professor Skinner’s 2006 Balzan Prize, specifically destined to support the work of young researchers.
