The Universality and Diversity of the Human Mind: a Symposium at Oxford
What does it mean to say that man’s ways of thinking are both one and many? What do we really mean by "ways" of thinking? These questions, which have long been the concern of science and philosophy, will be dealt with in the symposium, Beyond Biology and Culture: Cross-disciplinary Reflections on the Universality and Diversity of the Human Mind, organized by the Keble Advanced Studies Centre and the International Balzan Foundation, at the University of Oxford - Keble College, on 22 September 2018.
Coordinated by Lambros Malafouris, and introduced by Jonathan Phillips (Warden, Keble College) and Alberto Quadrio Curzio (Vice President of the Balzan Foundation "Prize"), the day’s discussion will offer a crossing of ideas and possible answers by Balzan Prizewinners and eminent European scholars from a wide range of disciplines (philosophy, anthropology, neurosciences, archaeology, literature and art history).
