On Wednesday 31 January 2018 in the Sala Meili, the Swiss Centre in Milan hosted: Architettura: una storia. Ricordando James Sloss Ackerman, an evening in memory of the recently deceased architectural historian.

Organized by the International Balzan Foundation "Prize" together with the Consulate General of Switzerland in Milan and CISA Palladio (Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura) in Vicenza, the event included the participation of young historians of architecture whose studies were published thanks to the second part of the Balzan Prize awarded to Ackerman.

James Sloss Ackerman (1919-2016), 2001 Balzan Prize for the History of Architecture, played a central role in developing a modern approach to the history of architecture based on the critical examination of written and visual sources.
