Balzan Prizewinner Francis Halzen wins the Nobel Prize

Francis Halzen, 2015 Balzan Prize for Astroparticle Physics Including Neutrino and Gamma-ray Observation, is the winner of the 2026 Nobel Prize for Physics.

The General Prize Committee of the Balzan Foundation, who acknowledged the significance of his research eleven years ago, congratulates Halzen.
He joins the ranks of the other twelve Balzan Prizewinners who have also won the Nobel Prize: Karl von Frisch, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Alan J. Heeger, Bruce Beutler, Jules Hoffmann, Shinya Yamanaka, James Allison, Michel Mayor, Reinhard Genzel, Alain Aspect, Omar Yaghi and Joel Mokyr .
