Balzan Prizes 2025 to be announced on 8 September in Milan

The Prizewinners of the four Balzan Prizes 2025 for
- Classics: Athenian Democracy Revisited
- History of Contemporary Art
- Atoms and Ultra-Precise Measurement of Time
- Gene and Gene-Modified Cell Therapy
will be officially announced in Milan on 8 September 2025, Monday, at the Fondazione Corriere della Sera at 6:00 pm (CEST/UTC+2).
After an opening speech by the President of the Balzan Foundation “Prize”, Maria Cristina Messa, the Chair of the General Prize Committee, Marta Cartabia, will announce the winners and read the citations, while the four Prizewinners will be presented by other members of the Committee.
The announcement of the winners will be followed by a lectio magistralis entitled “Glaciers, Climate and Landscape” by Johannes (Hans) Oerlemans, 2022 Balzan Prize for Glaciation and Ice Sheet Dynamics.
