Omar Yaghi, 2024 Balzan Prize for Nanoporous Materials for Environmental Applications, and Joel Mokyr, 2015 Balzan Prize for Economic History, are among the winners of the 2025 Nobel Prizes, respectively for Chemistry and Economic Sciences.
The International Balzan Foundation and the General Prize Committee, who previously acknowledged the significance of the research of Yaghi and Mokyr when they were awarded the Balzan Prizes, congratulate them as they join the ranks of the other ten Balzan Prizewinners who have become Nobel laureates: Karl von Frisch, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Alan J. Heeger, Bruce Beutler/Jules Hoffmann, Shinya Yamanaka, James Allison, Michel Mayor, Reinhard Genzel, and Alain Aspect.
